Contrary to JW belief, GOD is the ultimate judge. You do not have to be part of the WT organization to be saved. Live your life according to his word and not the WT's word and you will be OK. That is not for any man to say, it is all up to GOD.

The scripture itself I question. Proverbs 4:18 in the KJ reads as follows:
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
The "path of the just" is as the shining light, it doesn't say "the knowledge of the chosen", or the "understanding of the word". The "just" or "righteous ones"(NWT) are people and the "path" is the way we live our lives according to God.
The light shining more and more means that WE are the light, and should let our light shine(more and more) until the perfect day.
Anyone ever hear of the Sunday School song, "this little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, this little light of mine , I'm gonna let it shine, this little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine , let it shine, let it shine" ?

I give ya a high five on that, peterstrive. Tear it up brother!!
Anyway, All religions consider themselves to be the "truth". Why would anyone want to be a part of one that didn't? What I recommend to people looking for the truth is to study the Bible and find the religion that best suits their own beliefs. Talk with co-workers, friends, get some ideas of what religions are around. Have a Bible study and ask 2 or 3 people from different religions to come over. The one that remains the most christian like would be a good start. Also, it doesn't hurt to research the head of that church, like the WT, for good example.
I am no expert on religion, by no degree, but I would definately stay away from JW's (obviously), Mormons, non-christian religions, Satanic religions and trinitarian religions. That only leaves one religion left, the one I was raised in! Imagine that, haha. (no, we never handled snakes)

Awesome responses! Thanks JT for the list of examples.
Beck, thanks for the examples.
But, isn't new light supposed to come from God and not man? I would like to hear from a JW what the official definition of this is supposed to be. Does WT have any "new light" articles? Do they say where this "new light" comes from? Thats what cracks me up, like I said before, Gods word is the same now as it was in 1875, as it was in 1611, as it has always been, so why all the new revelations? I know why, that's obvious, but what is their answer?

Some of you may have read a thread I started on Masonry found here at http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=22479&site=3 .
I showed my wife this information and she was shocked to find out there is a pyramid with a cross on it at Russells grave. She printed all information and went to ask her JW dad about it. His reply basically was that WT has had "new" light since they put that pyramid there. He states that they would not do that today, use a pyramid or a cross, and I wonder why they leave it there.
I am aware of Proverbs 4:18 and have heard that exuse used way too much. Can anybody explain to me in detail where this new light comes from and why it contenuosly is getting brighter. Do JW's have a direct line with God?
Here is my thought. Gods word remains the same. It is only translated differently. There are many translations hence many religions. So basically JW's religion is a "live" religion changing every day. They may have more in common with one religion one day then more with another the next.
"New light" to me means more information to support the old information, not to contradict the old information. So basically, Jw's are right, because they were wrong. How do they know that what they believe in today wont be replaced with "new light" tomorrow? And they expect you to die by not taking blood when needed??????????

Masonry????
by apostate man ini have been reading some things about free masonry and how some say russell was a mason.
i have been skeptical up to this point but i am now finding more information that says this may be true.. question: .
why in the world would an organization that teaches against idols and flags etc., use a pyramid at the grave of its founder????

Cygnus, Just in case my last post went over your head, here is the just.
Here is your quote, "Secondly, where is your evidence that the WTS put that pyramid there? Yes, I know "Watch Tower Society" is written on the thing, but did you ever consider that perhaps someone else was actually responsible for putting the pyramid there, not the Society?"
Consider this, The land is owned by WT, it is a cemetary, there is a pyramid, the founder of WT is buried there. Do you really think that the WT would allow a third party to place a pyramid by Russells grave? Maybe I will put a cross up there and write a few good words about the ole man. NOT!
Thanks for reading the above and remember, always add pepper to your vomit BEFORE you lap it back up. mmmmm good

I never said the pyramid was over his grave. It is close by.
I quote from a site "It is in the "Rosemont United Cemeteries at Allegheny, in the Bethel Family plot, according to his request." (Jehovah's Witnesses In The Divine Purpose, 1959, p. 62)". So, yeah, I bet your right Cygnus, WT had absolutely no part in putting those words on the pyramid, even though he was the founder.
Here are some pics.
http://www.freeminds.org/history/cemetary.htmOnly a leader of a cult would come up with a date that foretold the beginning of the end, say it is from God and the bible that says so, and when in fact he used a man made pyramid to come up with the date to begin with.
"Do more research, and don't believe everything you read on anti-JW websites. It is also noteworthy that Russell said and wrote on several different occasions that he was rather umfamiliar and ignorant of Masonic rituals, customs, and behavior. Why? Because he was never a Mason". You need to do a little more research yourself before you defend something your not completely familiar with.I have done research on Russell. A very intelligent person who accomplished his mission.
One more thing. There are a lot of cults out there that use pyramids as a foundation of their beliefs.
I have no problem with pyramids. They are man made structures used to house the dead. Its when you use a passage way in a pyramid to forecast a date, say it complies with Gods word, call yourself the chosen one and prophet, that I have the problem with.
Thanks for reading the above and remember, always add pepper to your vomit BEFORE you lap it back up. mmmmm good

Everytime I read a WT article, I always knew that something did not fit but could never put my finger on it and this article points that out. Thanks.
I have noticed that WT uses quotes from many people I have never heard of to make their points believable. Its all part of circular reasoning. -
